Zhejiang Province is an important birthplace of tea, with a long history of tea, profound tea culture, and a flourishing tea industry. At present, out of 90 counties in 11 cities in Zhejiang Province, tea is produced in 74 counties in 10 cities.
In 2017, the first China International Tea Expo was held in Hangzhou and announced its permanent settlement in Hangzhou. Since the two sessions, the Tea Fair has actively promoted international tea industry technological innovation cooperation, improved the scale, intensive, standardization, and green levels of tea production, promoted the transformation and upgrading of the global tea industry, and built tea products for tea merchants at home and abroad. In order to praise the value of tea to the economy, society and culture, in December 2019, the 74th UN General Assembly passed a resolution to designate May 21st as "International Tea Day." This is the first time that a tea-producing country based in China has successfully promoted the establishment of an international festival in the agricultural field.
