Gunpowder tea is a kind of "round fried green", also known as "flat fried green", which belongs to fried green tea. Gunpowder tea is known as "green pearl" and is mainly sold in Northwest Africa. The United States and France also have certain markets. Natural gunpowder tea is made from fresh tea leaves with one bud, two or three leaves, or one bud, four or five leaves. Named for its origin in Pingshui Town, Shaoxing County, Zhejiang Province, it is refined into export tea called "ping green".
