Shenzhou Tea Network, August 11: The application for the "Pu'er Jingmai Mountain Ancient Tea Forest" has been in place for 10 years; it will also be submitted to the World Heritage Conference for deliberation in the near future. The process of extracting the value of cultural heritage has not only enabled people from all over the world to re-recognize the tea culture and cultural landscape, but also profoundly and significantly enhanced the economic development, social life and cultural confidence of cultural heritage sites.

It has been 35 years since China joined the UNESCO Convention for the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage. At present, my country has 55 World Heritage Sites, the number one in the world. This not only protects my country’s precious natural and cultural heritage, but also allows the world to better understand China, and has made positive contributions to my country’s ecological civilization construction, cultural self-confidence, and national rejuvenation.

Pu'er Jingmai Mountain Ancient Tea Forest is located in Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, in the southwestern border of China. Because the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Hengduan Mountains blocked the cold air currents from the north, the camellia plants in the mountainous regions of southwest China where the area is located survived the Quaternary glaciers and became the origin of cultivated tea trees in the world. From the 9th to 10th centuries AD, the ancestors of the Blang people discovered wild tea trees during their migration, so they settled in Jingmai Mountain, domesticated and planted tea trees in the forests around the stockade, and together with the Dai people and other generations of residents, they protected the tea mountains and built their homes. It has been passed down from generation to generation to form the ancient tea forest cultural landscape where forests and teas grow mutually, and people and land prosper together.

Every world heritage is a vivid story, either the history of earth evolution or the history of civilization development. As a typical agricultural cultural landscape heritage, the ancient tea forest of Jingmai Mountain vividly tells the world the legendary stories of our ancestors discovering tea, planting tea, protecting tea, loving tea, and respecting tea, which made tea an important part of life and life. , Tells how a small piece of tea affects the character and culture of a generation of inhabitants, and then realizes the real process of harmony between man and earth and a thousand-year heritage. So, what global outstanding universal value does the ancient tea forest of Jingmai Mountain have?

ancient tea forest in Mount Jingmai

First of all, the cultural landscape of the ancient tea forest of Jingmai Mountain is a unique testimony to the understory tea planting tradition of local residents. This special planting method uses the forest system to create a suitable growth environment for tea trees, and uses biodiversity to prevent pests and diseases, promote pollination and provide natural nutrients to produce high-quality pure natural organic tea. It is a leading background in large-scale terraced tea plantations around the world China is very unique, showing ecological ethics and wisdom that are of great significance to the sustainable development of today’s society. The tea culture with distinctive regional characteristics and the governance system passed down to the present by the inhabitants ensure that this tradition continues for thousands of years and is still full of vitality.

Secondly, Jingmai Mountain’s land use and vertical use technologies adapted to local conditions, as well as village construction technologies such as building villages around Shenshan and building houses around Zhaixin, have rationally and efficiently used the scarce land resources in mountainous areas, and built harmony between man and nature. The harmonious relationship between man and man and the "god" between man and land has created an environment-friendly, socially stable, and economically prosperous mountainous living environment. It is a model for the development of mountain forest agriculture and is important for the multicultural coexistence and harmonious development of mankind today. Enlightenment.

In addition, the "tea ancestor belief" that combines ancestor worship and nature worship on Jingmai Mountain is different from other tea gardens in the world. The strong sense of national identity for the "Tea ancestors" has enhanced the collective identification and behavioral awareness of the ancient tea forest protection of the residents of the world, making this primitive belief system not only standardize the code of conduct of the residents of the world, but also of the residents of the world. ’S values have a profound impact.

In contrast to the six nomination criteria for World Cultural Heritage, the above values respectively have the potential to meet criteria (ⅲ)(ⅴ)(ⅵ).

Jingmai Mountain’s application for World Heritage has been going on for 10 years. At present, countries in my country's surrounding areas are also actively applying for tea heritage. For the following reasons, the application for the heritage of Jingmai Mountain Ancient Tea Forest needs to be accelerated:

First, the type is pioneering. Tea is one of the oldest drinking plants in the world, but there is no tea heritage in the World Heritage List. There are also 10 wine (garden) heritages that are also used for drinking and coffee heritage 2 Item, 1 item of Champagne Heritage. The ancient tea forest of Jingmai Mountain is expected to become the world's first tea heritage.

Second, the importance of value. Agricultural heritage is a special testimony to the development of human agricultural civilization. The ancient tea forest of Jingmai Mountain is expected to become my country's first agricultural heritage of economic crops. Its production, life, and ecological "three-in-one" development model, and the harmonious evolution of nature, economy, and society, provide "Chinese wisdom" for the global modern and future ecological agriculture and regional sustainable development.

Third, the sustainability of development. The ancient tea forest of Jingmai Mountain is still a typical rural heritage. On the one hand, it needs to be strictly protected as national key cultural relics protection units, national forest parks, and traditional Chinese villages. On the other hand, the 15 natural villages on the mountain also need to be fully developed under the new situation. The theoretical and practical exploration of mechanisms and measures that coordinate the protection and utilization of Jingmai Mountain will help developing countries provide a "Chinese solution" for solving the contradiction between heritage protection and utilization.

China is the hometown of tea and the birthplace and place of origin of tea. Chinese tea culture has had an important influence on world civilization. Speeding up the application of Jingmai Mountain and telling the story of Chinese tea will not only help my country’s rural revitalization and the protection and utilization of agricultural heritage, but also help mutual learning among world civilizations.
