From January to September this year, green tea exports totaled over US$1 billion, how does it compare to the same period last year?
Green tea is the main type of tea exported from my country, accounting for more than 80% of total tea exports and more than 60% of total tea exports.
According to the difference in packaging weight, green tea export products are divided into small-package products (code 090210, net weight per inner package ≤ 3kg) and large-package products (code 090220, net weight per inner package> 3kg).
In 2019, my country earned back US$1.383 billion in foreign exchange through green tea exports. Under the impact of the new crown virus pneumonia, how many dollars have been earned by exporting green tea this year? Compared with the same period last year, what are the specific changes in green tea exports?
Late January and February are the most severe periods of the epidemic in my country, and the export performance is naturally poor. So that the customs combined the tea export data and displayed it as January to February.
From January to February 2019, small package green tea exports were US$86.01 million, large package green tea exports were US$86.72 million, and green tea exports totaled US$173 million. From January to February 2020, small package green tea exports were USD 73.48 million, large package green tea exports were USD 69.18 million, and green tea exports totaled USD 143 million. In comparison, in the first two months of this year, the cumulative export value of small-package green tea decreased by 14.57% year-on-year, the cumulative export value of large-package green tea decreased by 20.23% year-on-year, and the total cumulative export value of green tea decreased by 17.34% year-on-year. However, with the effective control of the domestic epidemic situation and the fact that my country's external supply of green tea is a very low-end product with a price tag, the average export price of green tea in 2019 was only $4.34/kg. It is difficult to be replaced by similar foreign products in the short term, and the export value of green tea has gradually rebounded. In the first three quarters of this year, the total export value of green tea has only slightly declined.
From January to September 2019, small-package green tea exports were US$515 million, large-package green tea exports were US$519 million, and green tea exports totaled US$1.034 billion.
From January to September 2020, the export of small-package green tea was US$527 million, the export of large-package green tea was US$495 million, and the total green tea export was US$1.022 billion.
In comparison, in the first three quarters of this year, the cumulative export value of small-package green tea increased by 2.41% year-on-year, the cumulative export value of large-package green tea decreased by 4.77% year-on-year, and the total cumulative export value of green tea decreased by 1.20% year-on-year.
Due to the impact of the epidemic, the consumption scenes of ordinary people in foreign countries will be affected, and the gathering of catering will inevitably be affected, and the use of large-package green tea products will decrease. Small-scale gatherings and solitude have promoted the increase in the direct export of small-package green tea products.
