NO.1 Why is it called Tieguanyin

There are two allusions about the origin of the name Tieguanyin.

It is said that Qianlong saw the shape of dried tea as heavy as iron, and the bottom of the leaves was as beautiful as the face of Guanyin, so he named it Tieguanyin;

It is said that it is a tea farmer who believes in Buddhism. He was asked by Guanyin to find a good tea, and then transplanted it into the iron tripod, hence the name Tieguanyin.

NO.2 Is Tieguanyin green tea?

Because Tieguanyin dry tea is in the shape of sandy green particles, the brewed soup is golden, translucent and slightly green.

In particular, the lightly fermented Tieguanyin has a "clear soup with green leaves", which is easily mistaken for green tea.

In fact, Tieguanyin belongs to oolong tea. The key process of Tieguanyin is to "make green". Whether it is a light-flavored or a strong-flavored tea, there are different degrees of fermentation.

NO.3 Tieguanyin is a variety name or a brand name

Tieguanyin is the name of a tea tree variety. Tieguanyin originated in Anxi, Fujian.

Anxi is close to Quanzhou, and it is convenient to go to sea. At the beginning of the 20th century, Tieguanyin, an excellent tree species, once spread to the Southeast Asia and eastward to Taiwan with the tide of immigration.

Tieguanyin is also a way of making tea. The traditional Tieguanyin is made from mature open-faced leaves with a high degree of fermentation.

Oolong tea has the aroma of ripe fruit and cooked fire, and the tea shape is spherical or hemispherical.

However, with the evolution of the times, the tea trees of Tieguanyin varieties are not necessarily used in the manufacture of Tieguanyin, and there are many changes in the production process. From the degree of fermentation to the degree of roasting, it is not as high as the traditional one.

Tieguanyin in a general sense has broken through the origin and variety, and has become the name of an oolong tea product that presents a specific aroma and taste.
